The world may be slowly coming out of lockdown, but Pokemon Go Fest 2020 still went ahead. What’s wilder is the $17.5m spent on Pokemon Go during this year’s event.
Yes, you read that right. Pokemon Go players spent an estimated $17,500,000 on the game over the last weekend. That breaks down to the following, based on Sensor Tower estimates…
$8.9 million was spent on Saturday, July 25…
And, $8.6 million was spent on Sunday, July 26.
For comparison, the Friday before had a revenue of about $7.8 million.
I can’t quite believe it either. Saturday’s revenue marks the most lucrative day in Pokemon Go since 2016. On July 29, 2016, players spent a huge $13.3 million in one day.
$17.5m Spent On Pokemon Go Adds Up To Almost $3.7 Billion Lifetime Revenue
It seems that the game has only soared in popularity since it’s release. In 2020 alone, Pokemon Go has earned $539 million. I guess a measly $17.5 million doesn’t seem that much, huh?
Pokemon Go tickets were only $15 for the two-day event. That means, if this money was made purely on event tickets, that 1,166,667 people took part in the event! During the event, participants would experience increased Pokemon encounters, exclusive habitats, special research tasks, and a Global Challenge Arena. During the event, Pokemon Go players caught nearly a billion Pokemon! That’s a lot of Bidoofs!
If you play Pokemon Go, it seemed like it would be a fairly good deal to buy tickets. This year’s event was the first-ever fully virtual one, and it seems a hit. Will Pokemon Go Fest 2021 be the same?
