With Halo 2 Anniversary launching on PC earlier this month, plans are already underway to bring Halo 3 to PC as part of the Halo Master Chief Collection. The public beta for the game will launch in June 2020. In a recent blog post, 343 Industries laid out their plans;
“Halo 3 is next up on the menu for coming to MCC on PC. We are already underway with early stages of flighting in Ring 1. Next week, we aim to get the completely paired down flight build into our partners hands, which is much sooner than usual. Our goal is to have the Halo 3 public flight kicked off in the first half of June.”
Halo Master Chief Collection is currently releasing in parts on PC and will be fully released by the end of 2020 on both Steam and Windows Store. This marks the first time Halo 3 will be released on PC, unlike Halo 1 and 2 which were released in their original versions back in the 2000s. Unlike Halo 1 and 2 from the MCC, Halo 3 won’t be remastered and will be visually the same as the Xbox 360 version that is also on the Xbox One MCC.
After Halo 3’s launch, we will then see Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 release to finish up the Master Chief Collection, there is currently no word on if Halo 5 will be brought to PC.
