The German esports organization, SK Gaming just announced that they have partners up with Nike as the team jersey and merchandise supplier and 11teamsports for distribution.
As the same with all the team before, Nike will have exclusive apparel rights, which means they will be the official uniform and merchandise providers for SK Gaming esports team. What makes this deal stand out is that it is a three-way partnership with 11teamsports. 11teamsports is a German online shop for soccer and team sports famous in the German speaking regions (Gemany, Austria, Switzerland). They are known mainly for their sponsorships deals in football. This marks the company first venture into esports.
‘The partnership results in a range of sportswear including team jersey, full tracksuit, hoodies and caps with the standout piece being the team jersey. You can get yourself a piece of the collection by going to SK Gaming official store.
We are incredibly proud to have our logo next to the world-famous Swoosh. As a brand, Nike stands for values that we live and breathe every day while 11teamsports will be able to provide us with the best possible support and infrastructure to take our merchandise to the next level’, said Alexander T. Müller, Managing Director SK Gaming.
Dennis Schröder, Managing Director of 11teamsports added: ‘We are proud of announcing the new cooperation with SK Gaming, and we look forward to cooperating with Nike, one of the major global players, with regard to merchandising and matchwear collections. At 11teamsport, we consider this opportunity a perfect starting point for launching our common topics and enlisting the global appeal of the Nike brand as support for the excellent team surrounding Alexander Müller in a professional way. For our young target group of football aficionados, esports and gaming, particularly FIFA, are a solid and indispensable part of their lifestyle, resulting in major synergies which in turn determine the right moment to begin a cooperation with a successful esports team. We are thrilled that with SK Gaming, we now have the opportunity to exhibit our expertise as outfitters in the esports sector.”
No official words from Nike representative or details about the deal is known. Maybe because they are to busy conquering esports on all front as Vodafone Giants, a Spain esports organization also announced their partnerships with Nike the same day as SK Gaming.
It is only a few weeks into 2020 and Nike has no intentions of hiding their desire to get into the largely untapped gold mine, that is, esports. Just under 2 days from announcing the deals Korea esports giant T1, Nike made their presence known in the EU esports scene. We have talked about how high fashion might make its way into esports. That may seems like a long way to go, but as for sportswear and everyday clothing, it already looks like it is going to be a good year for esports enthusiasts and fans alike.
