SKT really came out on top on the 28th. Speaking in this recent interview, they comment on their victory and how eager they were to rematch Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) after being defeated by them in February.
In this 7 minute video, game 1 and 3 MVPs Faker and Canna speak on their victory over HLE on the 28th. Faker responds with how it was satisfying to get their revenge with a 2-1 victory, but they were worried after having lost the second game. They stomped the first game, but then completely failed on their early game comp strategy and lost due to it in game 2. While things seemed bleak, Faker and Canna came in clutch for game 3. Canna was always where he was needed, teleporting in bot lane and helping secure a double kill. On top of that, he secured a solo kill on veteran player Cuvee. Cuvee isn’t just any slouch either; his old team, Samsung Galaxy, managed to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Esports history when they destroyed SKT in the 2017 World Finals.
Reflecting on the history, Canna solo killing a player who could very well be seen as a rival to SKT’s legacy is something that can be taken with stride. The entire team played amazing in game 3 but Canna engaged perfectly with his Ornn, making this game a breeze along with Faker’s Azir separating the enemy team.
As we are slowing approaching playoffs, SKT finds themselves firmly in second place, right behind Gen. G. Many hope to see SKT return to their former glory, and considering their more recent games, it may very well happen.
